About the project:

This intervention is permanently installed in the main public/social space at Static Gallery, Liverpool. It was made in response to the 2011 UK riots and to the context of Terminal Convention, an exhibition and series of events which took place throughout November 2011.

Context:

It was our intention to raise questions around the internationalism of the non-stop 32 hour event which launched Terminal Convention through sequential activities spanning various global time-zones. For the event Static Gallery partnered itself with organisations in the global cultural and trading centres: Seoul, Frankfurt and New York, and Cork (where Terminal Convention originally took place). By inserting the key locations of the 2011 riots in to the event we hoped to subvert its rhetoric around cultural mobility, international networks and global exchange. In our intervention time functions not as the language of mobility and freedom but conversely as a marginalising and disciplinary principle.
